Wolfram Alpha, which is a super cool innovative search engine. One of my friend showed me presentation video of it few weeks ago, since then I’d been waiting for it comes online.

Stephen Wolfram discusses Wolfram|Alpha: Computational Knowledge Engine

Wolfram Alpha is not like google, it’s now launching.

You can search with natural language, I mean sentences such as “Population in Thailand 1990“. It goes through the DB which is full of scientific/hsitorical facts, no junk data such as someone’s blog etc, then generate the result, even graphs. You can see the differences.

population

result in google

I like google, but Wolfram Alpha is different, this is so cleaver. WIth google, you can get lots of info, but you have to check many result links and find out the answer you want to know. but wolfram alpha gives you the answer at the first result page.

It’s an innovation, somehow it reminds me when google came popular. Before google got popular like now days, there are many search engines but I didn’t really like any. I didn’t like Yahoo, MSN etc, so I used to use http://alltheweb.com. It was a lot more simple than others. I liked it so much, but somehow I started use google and have been using it a lot. It’s very rare for me to use non-google search engines now.

However, wolfram alpha…. It’s different.

My friend who told me about this said that Stephen Wolfram is super cleaver guy. We checked his website and found out he’s super geneus.

I’m gonna play with it a lot, i’m sure. One thing I think it’s not cool is the name of the search engine. It should be more shorter or catchy.

She says “life in this country has dealt me a red shirt” – finally we have a movement I can identify with – this has nothing to do with Thaksin – he has only opened our eyes – and for that some of us are grateful to him. We know he is as corrupt as they all are but at least he threw us a few pieces of the cake – the other people in power take it all.
