iPhone 3.0 doing something over GPRS every 3 min1 sec

This months my phone credit run out so quick. I paid more than 15,000THB in last few weeks since I upgraded iPhone firmware to 3.0.

I should have been carefully about checking phone bill, I could have noticed something goes wrong when my phone line was cut, but I just paid 5,000THB more, then today 3,000THB again. It’s not normal.

Then I found out that my phone keep doing something every 3 min1 sec over GPRS, it started 24 of June which is the day I upgraded firmware.

Here is the log.

gprs

Every 3 min 1 sec, non-stop, from 24 of Jun to today.

I just disabled GPRS with inputting junc code. I don’t really need it because most of the time I’m somewhere with Wifi, office, home or pub.

It happened because of “push” mail, I’ve heard. But if it goes to the server to check email, it’s not really “pushing”, is it?

Now I understand why Japanese mobile phones have to have own email address on every single device, mobile email in Japan is really “PUSH”, it doesn’t go to the server to check.

hm… anyway, 15,000THB for nothing :(
