Google stops supporting IE6 and Firefox 2.0 #die6

FYI, it’s time to say good bye to IE6 (actually most of us have said  already though).

We plan to begin phasing out support of these older browsers on the Google Docs suite and the Google Sites editor on March 1, 2010.  After that point, certain functionality within these applications may have higher latency and may not work correctly in these older browsers. Later in 2010, we will start to phase out support for these browsers for Google Mail and Google Calendar.

Google Apps will continue to support Internet Explorer 7.0 and above, Firefox 3.0 and above, Google Chrome 4.0 and above, and Safari 3.0 and above.

Japanese version email came few days after I received English version announcement.

Javascript や HTML5 などの最新のウェブテクノロジーの活用が必要となります。

その結果、古いタイプのブラウザプラットフォームへのサポートを段階的に停止することになりました。対象となるブラウザは Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 および Mozilla Firefox 2.0 となります。

2010 年 3 月 1 日に、これらのブラウザへのGoogle ドキュメントおよび Google サイトエディターサポートを停止いたします。同日以降は、これらのブラウザを使った場合のアプリケーションのパフォーマンスが低下したり、正しく機能しない場合が予想されます。また、2010 年後半には、Google メール および Google カレンダーにおけるこれらブラウザへのサポートを停止する予定です。なお、Internet Explorer 7 以上、Firefox 3 以上、Safari 3 以上、および Google Chrome へのサポートは引き続き行います。
